At the Institute of Logic and Computation, in the Research Unit of Databases and Artificial Intelligence (192-02), TU Wien is offering a position as University Assistant (Prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Based on qualifications and mutual agreement, an extension to a full-time position (40 hours/week) from third-party funds of the Institute is possible. Expected start: May 2025.
The research work will be concerned with using knowledge graphs and graph technologies to bring meaning to large amounts of heterogeneous data, enable novel perspectives of analysis, and make data and results accessible. Of particular interest are scalable support of knowledge graph evolution, provenance, graph data quality, data integration, exploration and analytics, and the combination with LLMs. Tasks:
Research, project, and publication activities within the fields of databases, data and knowledge engineering
Solving scientific problems with the motivation for independent and goal-oriented research
Writing a dissertation and scientific publications
Participating in teaching activities
Participation in scientific events Your profile:
An excellent master or diploma in Computer Science (or closely related field)
Strong programming skills and experience with developing research prototypes
In-depth knowledge and experiences within the following areas are highly appreciated: graph data management, data integration (data lakes, fabrics), semantic technologies, provenance, shapes constraint languages, machine learning, LLMs, and dynamic/temporal knowledge graphs
Ability to develop methods, concepts, as well as their implementation and evaluation
Willingness to contribute in interdisciplinary projects
Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills, and creative thinking
Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of German (level B2) or willingness to learn it in the first year We offer:
